Imofija Football Club, which plays in the Upper Eastern Provincial League is out looking for sponsorship, to enable it sustain active participation in the Kenyan football scene.
Since its establishment, in the year 2000, the club has been
funded by contribution from players, committee members and other well-wishers.
However, with the league growing in bounds it has come to a point where proper support is needed in order to ensure that the team can compete comfortably.
This is according to the club’s Secretary Abdlatif Ali, who is also a goalkeeper with the team
-Having successfully maintained the club and the academy for 12 years the club officials and the senior players felt the need to ask for sponsors from anybody, Ali told Futaa.com.
In its early days the club, whose homeground is the Wabera Primary School grounds, was known as Majengo FC, due to the fact that it was established by local laborers and the street boys.
It has since established an academy targeting individuals aged below 14 years, with most hailing from less-privileged families.
Graduates from the academy are dispatched to regional clubs like Taqwa and Isiolo Youth FC to further their careers
The club won its first trophy in 2004, a local cup, announcing their arrival to clubs like Al-Fallah FC, Olympics FC and Taqwa FC, which were dominating the region.
Because of its constituency, which includes players from different ethnic backgrounds, the club has found affection amongst fans from around the Upper Eastern Kenya region, comprising Isiolo, Meru and Embu amongst other areas.
-Isiolo town and its environs has a vast number of talented football players and we hope potential investors will heed the club’s outcry to help nurture the talent which goes to waste, due to lack of exposure and the basic training essentials like training kits and funds to facilitate the clubs day to day programs, concludes Ali.
