Nairobi County League side Intercity FC, currently placed second in the league trounced league leaders Young Talent 3 – 2 in an entertaining friendly match played on Thursday 10 May at the Hope Center grounds.
Off the blocks
Young Talent was quick off the blocks with a seventh minute opener courtesy of George Ochieng who fired the league leaders ahead in the seventh minute with a fine header from a corner but were pegged back eleven minutes later by a Vincent Amage penalty after Billy Juma was felled in the box.
The match looked to be proceeding to the break on level terms but Intercity were shocked after a fine build up from the midfield by Young Talent caught them napping just on the stroke of halftime as Peter Kiilu fired them in front.
Oduor equalizer
In the second half, Intercity upped the ante and deservedly drew level after a nice interchange of passes from the center released Boniface Oduor who nutmegged Young Talent defenders in the left wing and beat the keeper for the second goal in the 60th minute.
Late winner
Intercity left it late as Boniface Kimathi’s pass was met by Harry Liambo to grab a 90th minute winner in what the team’s coach Frank Okoth described as a thrilling performance.
-It was a thrilling performance and a very entertaining match as the boys wait for the resumption of the league. I expect them to play many more such friendlies so that they keep in shape, he told futaa.com.
