Recent news that Coast National Executive Committee (NEC) member Hussein Terry was pushing for the hiring of a new Coach to take over at Bandari as they prepare for the top flight in the coming season has not been take lightly.

Terry was taken to be undermining the current Coach of Bandari – Rishadi Shedu which has forced him to come out to set the record straight.

Make a return

-First and foremost I was approached by an official from the club (Bandari) who asked me to talk to former National Coach (Francis) Kimanzi to take over at the club.

-The reasoning behind it was simple – that Shedu had been taken to hospital for an operation and that the official was not sure if he’d be back in time or not

-I have all the respect for Shedu, I worked with him back in 2004 at the Kenya U20 team as his team manager. I congratulate him for having seen the team make a return to the Premier league.

No talks

-At the end of the day I do not hire for Bandari – it is they who do so directly, the buck stops with them. I only did what an official asked me to do for the interest of football in Mombasa.

Recently, the clubs CEO Ben Oloo confirmed that they have had no talks with Kimanzi. He further confirmed that Shedu who had undergone an operation on 20th November was to return to duty on Friday 21 December after a month sick off.
