Homeboyz bag Mashujaa Day Cup

Dennis Mukaisi/Homeboyz
Kakamega Homeboyz laid down a marker as they saw off a spirited Bandari outfit 2-1 to win the Mashujaa Day Cup on Saturday 20 October 2012.

The Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi saw the two best sides in the FKF Division one take each other on in the traditional public holiday trophy.

Dennis Mukaisi opened the scoring on ten minutes with a low shot in a well attended match, but the dockers equalised three minutes to the half-time break through Tanzanian forward David Tevelu.

Controversial

The second half was a balanced affair as both sides settled well in midfield and even in defence.

The winning goal came in controversial fashion with just three minutes left on the clock, as Ken Wamunyinyi was adjudged fouled by the referee to the utter disgust of Bandari players.

Jaffar Abdi slotted home the penalty to hand the side from Kakamega the 2012 Mashujaa Day Cup.
