Harambee Stars' assistant: Origi can't resign

Arnold Origi

Harambee Stars assistant coach Francis Baraza has asked Arnold Origi to reconsider his decision to retire from the Harambee Stars.

-Origi still had a lot to give to the team and I hope he will change his mind, before we return to camp ahead of 2013 African Cup of Nations qualifiers, against Togo.

-Honestly, we need him and this decision has indeed come as a shocker.

-I request him to consult with head coach, Francis Kimanzi, and I am sure this will yield an amicable solution, because retirement is honestly a blow to the Stars, Baraza told Futaa.com.

replacement

As to who could possibly replace Origi, Baraza says no name immediately springs to his head.

-The department tasked with that responsibility will indeed have a hard time.

resignation

Origi, who was with Norwegian second division’s FK Moss in 2011, but is now a free-agent, announced early Friday 27 January that he was stepping out of the national team owing to a nagging knee injury.
