The Tusker Premier League (TPL) continued on Sunday 21 October. In one of the two matches on the cards, Thika United at home to Western Stima head into the break with scores still barren.
Missed chances
The home side, however, will rue their missed chances early in the game as they failed to convert their dominance into goals. They should have gone ahead after just four minutes through Kepha Aswani whose free kick was well tipped round by Ben Roberts Mandela for a corner.
From the ensuing attack, Moses Arita did shoot well, beating the keeper but his attempt was cleared off the line by Kelvin Oluoch.
Mandela save
Ben Roberts did save well again on 13 minutes from a powerful long range drive by Wycliffe Opondo to keep the scores barren as the game grew into a dull affair thereafter.
Western Stima did not manage a shot on target in the whole first half, their best chance fell on Wesley Kemboi but the Kenyan international’s first touch was too heavy and allowed Lucas Indeche an easy save.
The Westerners will also carry more worries in the second half as David Otieno was cautioned very early – in the third minute for a foul on Moses Arita.
