Green for Celtic, red for Wanyama

There were two sides to a UEFA Champions League third round qualification tie played on Wednesday 8 August 2012.

Late one

Out at the Sonera Stadium in Finland, Celtic hit host club HJK Helsinki 0-2 to get the green light into the group stage of the UEFA Champions league on a 1-4 aggregate.

Goals from Welshman Joseph Christopher Ledley on 67 minutes and a late one from Greek Georgios Samaras handed Celtic the 0-2 to top up on a 2-1 home win from the first leg played on Wednesday 1 August.

71st minute ejection

Victor Wanyama who became the third Kenyan to feature in the UEFA Champions League in the first leg clash against HJK last week, failed to see the end of only his second Champions League tie when he saw red for a 71st minute ejection.

Playing in central defense alongside Thomas Rogne, Wanyama picked up a yellow on 54 minutes and a second followed on 71 minutes that got him off the game.

Celtic will now feature in one of the eight groups in the round of 32.
