Ex-Gor Mahia players stunned their counterparts from AFC Leopards 3-1 on post-match penalties, after a 1-1 draw in the normal time during a Mashujaa Day Cup curtain-raiser match, at Nyayo National Stadium.
The pulsating encounter brought together players who featured for the two Kenya’s most celebrated clubs in the late 80’s and early 90’s.
After a barren first half, Leopards’ substitute Franklin Obare combined well with Patrick Shim, Tasso Keffa and Maurice Sunguti to beat keeper Victor Onyango in the 70th minute.
Penalties
However, Collins Ogutu leveled the score a minute into stoppage time forcing the match into penalties.
Penalties converted by Charles Korea Omondi, Francis Odour, Collins Ogutu and Tobias Ocholla saw K'ogalo emerge the victor with Herman Wandera scoring for Ingwe.
Tasso blasted his shot over the bar before Victor Onyango saved Reginald Asibwa’s strike.
