Gor Mahia’s Ugandan defender Ivan Anguyo was named the best player in his team’s match on Sunday 15 July as they won 1 – 0 in the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) encounter staged at the Afraha Stadium in Nakuru.
Dedication to team
The defender, who scored the only goal of the match, was thereafter awarded a DSTV Drifta in recognition of his contribution to the match and speaking after the game, he dedicated the win to his team mates.
Anguyo’s goal was his first of the season for Gor Mahia and in the post match interview he also intimated that the team should not be ruled out of the title race.
In the title race
-I feel great, and it is not just about me but the whole team; I am happy for everyone in the team and thankful for the hard work we all put in for the result. We can still work harder to keep up with the teams ahead of us and get well into the title race. It is within reach, he said.
Gor Mahia are sixth in the standings with 29 points after 18 matches.
