The four-time African Champions have avowed to be cautiously
optimistic of their draw opponent the
Flames of Malawi.
Black Stars were paired with the two-time finalists the Flames at Thursday 5 July’s final draw in the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
Benefit of history and pedigree
According to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) president, Kwesi Nyantakyi, Black Stars are wealthy of experience which will help them dispatch Malawi.
-On paper, Ghana is streets ahead of Malawi. We have tremendous experience in this competition, a lot of achievements on our side, the benefit of history and pedigree. But it is very important for us to be cautiously optimistic because you can be surprised if you underrate your opponent. Nyantakyi told Joy Sports.
Slipped down eight places
Despite their flop in the latest world rankings, slipping down eight places changes they greatly attribute to both the UEFA EURO 2012 and OFC Nations Cup, Ghana maintain the upbeat momentum.
Ghana will host Kinnah Phiri's side for the first leg on 9 September before travelling to Blantyre for the return leg on 13 October 2012.
