Gatundu Coach says his team still has the steam

Shadrack Ateka

Bandari FC appeared to have a relaxed run towards promotion, until Sunday 18 when 17th placed Gatundu Stars came out to clip their wings.

Ten-man Gatundu  won their match, played at their Juja grounds, 1-0, their goal coming courtesy of Bernard Wafula Wepukhulu.

How it was

Explaining the feat, Gatundu’s head Coach Shadrack Ateka said that they knew their opponents were under pressure to sustain their stay at the top of the table and would therefore not have full concentration.

- We realized the teams at the top have all the pressure. As for us, Gatundu, we had no pressure at all and we were relaxed, with all our departments functioning well;  They kept coming at us as we sat back.

Tread carefully

Ateka also advised the other teams in their league not to underestimate them because even with the challenges they face on a daily basis, they can come out to pull surprises from time to time.
-After beating Bandari teams now need to know that we are not just a team to beat, we can also beat.
- This is despite losing alot of players during the transfer window, most of whom we never quite got replacements for.

-In addition, very few players attend training - we have just about 14 players who show up regularly.

Standings

Gatundu are currently tied with 16th placed Kibera Celtic at 29 points
