At the close of the 2011/12
season, young centre forward Divock Origi graduated from the U19 squad to the
reserve side of 2010/11 French Ligue 1 Champions Lille Olympique Sporting
Having moved up to the reserve team, Divock, the son to legendary Mike Okoth Origi, is now featuring in the Championnat de France Amateur (CFA Group A), the fourth tier in the French football pyramid.
Origi, 17, is one of the 26 players that was registered by Lille’s reserve team, Lille II (Lille B) for the CFA.
He is the youngest in the squad having been born a month earlier than the only other 17 year old in the team; keeper Guillaumet Mollet, a Belgian National.
Featured in four
After seven rounds of play, Lille II is currently placed eighth in the 18-team log with 16 points.
Of the seven games played this season by Lille II, Divock who has featured for Belgium’s U15, U16 as well as the U17 sides, has been getting game time and has featured in four.
On Saturday 22 September 2012, the centre forward picked up his first start and near complete game in a 0-1 win away at Roye-Noyon.
The youngster got 87 minutes in the game before giving way to Tourcoing-born French attacker Julien de Araujo, 25.
Lille II plays Villemomble Sports in their next league game on Saturday 6 October 2012, a game that Divock will hope to get more game time.
