Football Kenya Federation
(FKF) has reminded the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) that their mandate is to run
the league and nothing else.
Modalities of the administration
But as and when they wish to run anything else, like the KPL Top 8 tournament that they currently do, they must seek the authority and approval of the Federation first.
A communique to that effect, signed on 1 August 2012 by FKF Chair Sam Nyamweya spelt out as much.
-FKF will review the staging of the Top 8 in future and also orders that all the cubs, FKF and KPL hold a joint consultative meeting to agree on the modalities of the administration of the tournament/fixture.
Thorough scrutiny of the rules and regulations
-FKF categorically states that the mandate given to the KPL is restricted to the running of the Premier League and not any other activity/tournament without to the Federations authority based on a thorough scrutiny of the rules and regulations provided for any such tournaments, said the press release.
KPL has been running the Top 8 since 2011.
