FKF faulted appointing Kimanzi as TD

Kimanzi

Chemelil Sugar FC Coach Edward Manoah feels that it’s unwise for Football Kenya Federation [FKF] to appoint Francis Kimanzi as the Technical Director after he’s redeployed from his earlier role as Harambee Stars Coach.

According to Manoah, the Federation made a hurried decision without thinking about the long-run implications and the future of football in the
country.

Broader spectrum

-FKF blew it out of proportion. Kimanzi is still very, young, strong and energetic, Manoah told futaa.com.

-I am not against the plan of hiring a foreign coach but in my opinion Kimanzi should remain in the technical bench as his deputy for continuity

reasons.

In-active coaches

Manoah further challenged the Federation to make good use of experienced coaches who’ve played a major role in the development of football in the country.

-Instead of assigning him a new role as the TD, FKF should’ve appointed experienced coaches like Bob Oyugi, Mohammed Kheri and Twahir Muhiddin as the TD because they’re no longer involved in active coaching.

-I think this is the only way we can reward such people who’ve worked all their lives and contributed positively to the growth of football in

this country. They’ve knowledge of all youth structures in the country and that’s where we need to begin from for the national team to perform well.

-Yes, they’ve given him a new job but as far as I am concerned Kimanzi is very resourceful and being one of the qualified coaches in the country he might be tempted to coach again.

-However, as Kenyans we should also learn to appreciate others, he added.

Kimanzi replaced former TD Patrick Naggi who’ll work as the Education Officer reporting to the TD.
