Football Kenya Federation has called on Coastal Union to immediately release midfielder Jerry Santo, so that he can join the national team for Tuesday’s (October 16) international friendly match against Bafana Bafana of South Africa.
In an earlier interview with futaa.com, the former Tusker midfielder had revealed his intentions of featuring for his side’s crucial league match against Simba SC, on Saturday, before traveling to Kenya.
However, in a press conference at Boulevard Hotel on Thursday 11 October, FKF Chair Sam Nyamweya said that the Tanzanian Premier League (TPL) side must respect FIFA rules for international friendly matches.
According to Nyamweya, Coach Henri Michel needs the midfielder in training to be able to make an early final squad selection before the match.
-We will write protest letter to Tanzania Football Federation demanding the release of Santo for the game. This is unacceptable and we hope they will not put us into a situation of taking action against them.
-If they don't release him we'll also write a protest letter to FIFA, he said.
Santo's side Coastal Union has a Tannzanian League tie against Simba on Saturday 13 October.
