His club Celtic FC will face off with Swedish side Helsinborgs IF in the final qualifying round for the 2012-13 Champions League.
Wanyama was once a Helsinborgs player, having been a part of their academy set-up between 2007 and 2008.
His brother McDonald Mariga spent a couple of seasons at the Swedish Club (2006-8), which is famous for housing Barcelona, Celtic and Manchester United legend Henrik Larson.
Celtic have been drawn away from home for the first leg, meaning if they get a favourable result in the first leg, they can cement it with a return leg set for Celtic park.
This is the first time the club have met a team from Sweden in European competition. The games are scheduled to go ahead on August 22/23 and August 28/29.
Wanyama though will not face off with the Swedes in the first leg, as he was red-carded in the third round win over IJ Helsinki.
If they beat Helsinborgs over two legs, the Celts will make it to the group stage proper, where they could face Europe's biggest sides in the tournament.
