The match, played at the Donbas Arena in Donetsk's main highlight was an hour long delay after a huge thunderstorm erupted.
With only four minutes played, the match had to be postponed for an hour due to the bad conditions, which threatened even the safety of the players on the field.
The match resumed and the first half was predictably slow, considering the long delay.
Explosive second half
The second half though started in quickfire fashion, with the French getting the early advantage, Jeremy Menez giving Les Bleus the lead with a good shot.
With the lead in their hands, they continued spraying the passes and eventually got a second, Johan Cabaye finishing smartly to add to their advantage.
From then on, the men in blue slowed the game down and thus cantered to an easy win.
France lead the way in their group with four points from two games, with Ukraine on three. France and Sweden face off in the other group match later on.
