EL Clasico preview: Records and statistics

El Clasico
There are a number of interesting records and statistics surrounding Barcelona and Real Madrid’s 222nd Clasico meeting in all competitions.

Specifically, if Real are to collect a win at the Camp Nou tonight, then it will be the first time they will have managed consecutive League wins at Barcelona since the 1964-65 campaign, as Barca’s official website moves to remind readers.

Ronaldo record
Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo will be aiming to make it five Clasicos in a row at Camp Nou that he has scored in, if he nets tonight. The Portuguese has scored eight times against Barcelona, just under half of the 17 goals his team have managed as a total against La Blaugrana from 15 games in that time.

Messi record
Lionel Messi goes into the fixture as the all-time second highest goalscorer in the fixture on 15 goals. It is a total that has him level with Raul Gonzalez and behind only Alfredo Di Stefano. Real are behind only Atletico Madrid’s 18 as the team to have conceded the most goals to Messi in his career.

Most appearances in the Clasico belongs to Xavi Hernandez, who has 34 official games against Real Madrid to his name.

Jose loses
Jose Mourinho has lost against Barcelona 10 times in his career as a Coach, twice as many times as he has lost to any other side.
Barca have won at home in La Liga against Real 47 times, there have been 18 draws and Real have run out winners on 19 occasions.
