Ekhalie’s Mariehamn forced to a draw in Finland

Finland’s top flight league, the 12-team Veikkausliiga concluded round 26 of games with two scheduled ties on Tuesday 18 September 2012.

Substitute

Of the two, one involved a home game for Kenyan midfielder Amos Chona Ekhalie’s IFK Mariehamn and visiting Honka, a game played at the Wiklöf Holding Arena, Mariehamn from 1830hrs.

In the game, Ekhalie, 24, picked up his 19th start of the season to claim his game 24 of 26 this season.

He was however substituted four minutes after the hour mark by midfielder Markus Oloffson.

Amassed

Two goals late in the game ensured the tie ended 1-1. Mariehamn opended the scores in the dd81st minute through Russian striker Aleksei Kangaskolkka but the very next minute matters were evened out as defender Henri Aalto made certain his side got a share of the spoils.

With a point in the bag, Mariehamn improved to 42 points to maintain fourth spot. Honka too remained in position eight but improved to 36 points.

Both sides trail the 49 points amassed by leaders Inter Turku
