East Africans to face FIFA's wrath

Sudan
The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has officially lodged a protest with FIFA allegedly fielding of an ineligible player during their World Cup qualifier on Saturday 2 June 2012.

Defender Saif Eldin Ali Masawi played in the 2:0 win over the Chipolopolo despite being suspended as a result of a red card he received during Sudan's last competitive game - incidentally against Zambia - in the quarter-finals of the 2012 Nations Cup.

FAZ says its complaint has already reached the world football governing body and that the matter will be sent to its disciplinary committee.

A FAZ statement read in part:- In our communication to Zurich last week, we requested FIFA to review the June 2 FIFA World Cup Brazil 2014 qualifier match Sudan vs Zambia.

 Ineligible to play

-This is with specific reference to the Sudanese player Saif Ali Eldin Adris.

-As stated in our earlier statement, Football House had been looking at the relevant documentation and materials relating to the game, the player in review as well as the rules and regulations governing the 2014 Qualifiers.

-Once again, once the FIFA process is completed and the outcome communicated to us, we shall inform the nation accordingly, the statement creditied to the Assocuated Press read.

It is unclear what the penalty would be if Zambia are successful, but should Sudan be docked the three points, they will drop to third in their group, while the Chipolopolo will rocket to the top, three points clear of Ghana.
