Chelsea star Didier Drogba has joined Chinese top-tier club Shangai Shenhua.

Drogba chose Shangai despite interests from Real Madrid, Marseille, Tottenham among other top clubs.
The ambitious Chinese club has spent abundantly on foreign talent, including coaches. They sacked head coach Jean Tigana earlier and replaced him with former Argentina manager Sergio Batista last month.
His former team mate at Chelsea Nicholas Anelka joined Shenhua in January. Drogba will reportedly earn 314,000 pounds a week.
Shenhua is currently 12th in the 16-team Chinese Super league.
