Ivory Coast forward Didier Drogba has thanked his teammates for their team spirit that has helped seen them storm into the quarter finals of the Africa Cup of Nations.

The national side skipper admitted to kickoff.com that his teammates had a large part to play in his brilliant show in the quarterfinal match against co-hosts Gabon where he scored a brace despite missing a penalty early in the first half.
- My team-mates encouraged me and were very supportive. I had to get back in the game and I owe it to them for these goals. I'm glad I did it for them and I am proud of my team-mates.
The Chelsea hit-man also expressed optimism that the Elephants can end their 20 - year old trophy draught that has rocked them by winning the 2012 AFCON trophy.
Ivory Coast will now face the Eagles in the quarterfinals of the biannual event on Wednesday 8 February 2012.
