Central Region will have one team less in the
49-team second tier league after the Muranga based Muranga United was shown the
door from the league for skipping three straight games.
Muranga should have seen the expulsion coming after missing to make a trip in the past weekend to Lamu and Malindi to face Brighter Stars and Maweni City on Saturday and Sunday respectively.
-In reference to our last clubs meeting held on 9th February 2013 at Nyayo Stadium we discussed and agreed on regulations governing our competition, which were adopted by all clubs, said a letter dated 11 April from the Football Kenya Federation addressed to Muranga United’s Secretary
-It is unfortunate that you have violated one of them by failing to honor three (3) matches. Article 7.L and 10B provides for appropriate action to be taken
-We hereby suspend you from participating in the league for the remaining period and relegated to a lower league. Kindly note that you can only participate in the refereed lower league next season – 2014, ended the letter that was sent out to all division one clubs.
The letter went on to list the missed games which is against KRA at the Hope Centre on Sunday 31 March and the two at the North Coast.
Muranga United was promoted to the second tier by virtue of having been the second best team in the 2012 Central Region league.
