Chelsea
Manager Roberto Di Matteo says his side’s 5-4 win over Manchester United, on
Wednesday 31 October, in Capital One Cup match suggests Sunday’s league result
was unfair.
The nine-man Blues lost 3-2 to United on Sunday, with Javier Hernandez's winner coming from an offside position.
Poor officiating
According to the Manager, Chelsea would have done the same three days ago if it hadn't been for refereeing decisions.
-It's not been the easiest few days we have had. We wanted to show tonight that Sunday's game was really heavily influenced by the official, Di Matteo was quoted by BBC Sport..
-Sunday's defeat was a really strange one because I don't think we would have lost if the official didn't make those mistakes.
Deserved to win
-We deservedly won the game. We had so many chances and we had to come back so many times as well and we showed great character to do so.
-We are trying to play differently but we all like to win as well. We are playing very well and sometimes you make a step back to do one forwards.
-It was a typical cup game because of all the young players in the team, and we had to chase the game. It was a bit more open than usual, he added.
Chelsea will now face Leeds United in the quarterfinals.
