A row is boiling out in the Central Provincial League
between two teams; County Sportiff and Tetu Stars.
Not released him
At the centre of the controversy between the two is striker Dickson Wambugu of County Sportiff who is said to have been ‘stolen’ by Tetu Stars.
-We were recently surprised that he (Wambugu) was turning out of Tetu Stars yet we have not released him from our team, said Peter Warutere of County Sportiff
Not happy
-Tetu acquired him illegally as the player is engaged with us till 2013. He signed a one year contract at the beginning of the season.
But Tetu Stars has refuted the claims of ‘stealing’ Wambugu from County Sportiff whom they say has always wanted out from County Sportiff
- The player came to us because he no longer wishes to play for County Sportiff because he is not happy. He had even requested the team to let him go but they refused.
Not on contract
-He is not being paid there and he is not on contract so nothing stopped him from joining us, said Coach Mohammed who is currently under suspension due to this matter.
Tetu Stars and County Sportiff, both formed in early 2012 are part of the 20-teams in Central’s top tier league.
