Copa: Coast, Eastern for boys final

Western Province dominance in the 2012 Copa Coca Cola National finals was nipped in the bud after Coast Boys eliminated their Boys team in the lottery of penalty shootout during a breathtaking semi-finals played at KPA Mbaraki Sports club on Friday 27 July 2012.

Blocked a spot kick

After a barren draw in the normal regulation time, Coast Boys flamboyant keeper blocked a spot kick from Meshack Ngige to see off Western 5-4 on penalties.

Coast Boys converted all their spot kicks through Badi Baraza, Khalid Amir, Said Mohammed, Ahmed Mahfudh and Moses Eugen.

Western marks men were Alfred Wekesa, Fredrick Otieno, Raphael Kabule and William Waithaka.

Eastern Boys beat Central Boys 2-0

Coast Boys coach Nassoro Mwakombo was excited after the match

-We played against a good team but our boys played their hearts out. We expect to be under pressure from home fans to deliver in tomorrow’s final but the will approach the finals match like any other match and shall lift the trophy’ Nassoro exuded confidence

In another boys semi-final played on Thursday, Eastern Boys beat Central Boys 2-0 to set the stage for a showdown with Coast Boys in the Boys finals tomorrow.

Identical 2-0 victories

Losers Western Boys will play Central Boys in the boys play off.

Before they qualified for the semi-finals, Eastern Boys had seen off Nairobi and Rift Valley 1-0 and 2-0 respectively and went to lose 2-0 to Western Boys.

Coast Boys started their campaign with identical 2-0 victories over North Eastern Boys and Nairobi before they went down 2-1 to Central Boys
