Copa: Coast boys crowned Champions

A tactical masterstroke by the technical bench paid dividends when Coast Boys beat Eastern Boys 1-0 to lift the 2012 Copa Coca Cola boys trophy in a pulsating finals played at KPA Mbaraki Sports Club on Saturday 28 July 2012.

After striker Mudhafar Swaleh squandered God given chances in the first half, Coach Said Mohammed pulled him out and brought in Omar Mwinyi.

The breakthrough came five minutes upon restart when substitute Mwinyi found the back of the net to earn Coast Boys the coveted title.

Podium

On their way to the podium Coast Boys eliminated Western Boys 5-4 in the lottery of penalty shoot out during the semi-finals played on Friday 27 July at the same venue.

During the boys’ losers final, Central Boys saw off Western Boys 2-1 to win the first runners up title.

Awarded

Coast Boys were awarded a championship trophy and school fees vouchers worthy Ksh 600,000 while runners up Eastern Boys  were awarded  first runners up trophy and school fees vouchers worthy Ksh 300,000.

Central  Boys  were awarded second runners up trophy and school fees vouchers worthy Ksh 200,000.

Over and above the Championship trophy, Coast landed the best disciplined team award and one of their own -Ahmed Mahfudh landing the best player Award.
