Convincing win for Timbe and troops

Genk
KRC Genk kicked off their 2012-13 UEFA Europa League campaign with a 3-0 win over Hungarian outfit Videoton on Thursday evening (20 September 2012).

Pre-kick off it was announced that Kenyan striker Ayub Masika Timbe would not be in the Genk line-up for the clash, after being left out by head coach Mario Been.

Without him though, Genk were untroubled, as they whipped the hapless Hungarians at their Kristal Arena home in Genk.

Early goal

They were off the blocks early, with Jelle Vossen calming the home side's nerves with a cute finish on 22 minutes.

From then on, they were in cruise control, but would have to wait over 50minutes to get their second of the evening, which was converted by Thomas Buffel on 78 minutes.

The icing on the cake would be Benjamin De Ceulaer's finish in added time, to put some gloss on the scoreline.

Swiss trip

Genk's next Europa League match will be away at Swiss side FC Basel on Thursday 4 October 2012.
