After steering his side to the DSTV Super Cup win over city rivals Gor Mahia on Sunday 5 February at the Nyayo National Stadium, very few can carry doubts about Patrick Petit Kagogo’s meteoric start in his career at Tusker.
The midfielder, captured from Sofapaka in late December, has registered his stature as a regular player among the reigning Kenyan Premier League(KPL) champions and after playing the entire game against Gor Mahia he feels Tusker is the right team to take his career to the next level.
Coach influence pivotal
Speaking to futaa.com, the winger felt the influence of the Tusker coach would prove so pivotal in his career, thanking him and his new teammates for the much trust he has been accorded since joining the team.
-I never imagined it would have been this great to join Tusker. At first I wanted to join because it is a big team, they had just won the league title and when the opportunity came for me to be amongst the champions I said why not.
Further career
-But it is not just all about that; here I feel I am at the right place to further my career. I have no doubt about it. The trust put in me by the coach and my team mates is tremendous but not overwhelming and the coach’s interest in my development really spurs me on. I believe in Tusker I have a great future, he said.
Kagogo, a Congolese refugee, spent some time with Sofapaka, earning promotion with them and even went on to win the league title in his maiden season and the FK Cup the following season before enduring a trophyless third season in the top flight after which he joined the reigning champs.
