Congo United, West Ham strike deal

Former Kenyan Premier League side Congo United will in the coming season be known as West Ham United.

This has been confirmed by the club’s chair Evans Mzungu who also confirms that the club has acquired sound financial backing for the upcoming season.

An agreement

-We have acquired a sponsor ahead of the coming season. We will go by the name West Ham United, he said to futaa.com

Omar Mzaham, the Chairman of Coast Provincial side West Ham confirms that the two clubs have an arrangement ahead for the upcoming season

-We have had lengthy discussion with Mzungu and we have reached an agreement ahead of the Division one (Zone A) season. He has written to FKF (Footbal Kenya Federation) to confirm that the team that will participate in the season will be known as West Ham United,

Came to an end

-He (Mzungu) will remain as the Chair and I will be the Vice Chair. Jamal will be the team manager

-We have the sponsorship and all will be well, he concluded

In the 2012 season, relegated Congo United partnered with JMJ Academy and the two went by the name Congo JMJ United.

Their partnership however came to an end at the close of the season and both sides went their separate ways.
