Congo chair grumbles after Puma deal

Congo United

The recent positive development in the Kenyan Football fraternity in which Puma has joined the list of KPL sponsors has irked Congo chair Evans Mzungu.

While reacting to the deal, the chairman lamented that it was a pity that Division One League clubs will continually suffer as their counterparts in the Tusker Premier League flourish owing to increased support.

Sponsors needed

-The junior clubs struggle to maintain their teams while paying for other expenses like the referees’ fee and no one seems to care about them.

-What this means is that they will take long to make ends meet yet the federation is not getting us any sponsors to rescue the situation.

-This is a major reason why teams that qualify to the premier league struggle to maintain their positions and thus get relegated again.

Mzungu cautioned that increased strengthening of the first tier league while overlooking the other junior league will only kill a lot of clubs and the talents in there.

Sports Merchandize Company became the latest addition to the league sponsors on Wednesday after signing a KShs 10 Million worth deal with KPL that will see all teams use Puma balls for their training and matches.
