Congo awarded abandoned match points

Division One side [Zone A] Congo United has been awarded maximum points after their match against Mathare Youth was abandoned on Sunday 13 May 2012.

According to the Chair of Leagues and Competitions at Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Dorris Petra, the constitution is clear when it comes to such cases in the competition.

-The rules are clear. A team that causes abandonment of a game automatically loses the said match.

-According to the match report, Mathare Youth caused abandonment and hence must lose all the points.

Dorris was referring to section 7 [j] of the constitution that states: “If the visiting team overwhelm the hosts and cause abandonment, such situations shall be analyzed by FKF and if proved beyond reasonable doubt, then the visiting team loses the match.”

Congo are placed mid-table while Mathare are placed bottom of the log.
