Coast United gain from abandoned Sharks tie

.

On Saturday 13 October 2012, a Division One Zone A tie between host Coast United and Kariobangi Sharks ended before the final whistle with the game tied at 1-1.

Late penalty

In the game played at the Tudor Day grounds from 1000hrs, players from Kariobangi Sharks reportedly roughed up Centre referee Rico Chai when he awarded a late penalty to Coast United and at the same time handed the keeper Caleb Owino a red card.

Sharks had carried a 14th minute lead from a Steve Obiero strike late into the game. But in the 86th minute, Chai awarded Coast United a penalty that was sent home by Evans Makacha.

Moves off spot 13

A week later, a deliberation on the game has been made and, as per a communique from Football Kenya Federation (FKF), the game has been awarded to Coast United on a 2-0, three points basis.

After the FKF call, Coast United now moves off spot 13 and above Kibera Celtic to 12th spot with a new tally of 40 points.
