Coast derby ends in chaos

A Division One match derby between arch rivals Admiral and Sparki Youth played at Tudor Day on Saturday 22 September 2012 from 1500hrs was abandoned two minutes to time after the center referee Musa Wekesa was assaulted.

Flashed a yellow

Martin Wekesa was subsequently rushed to nearby Al-Farouk Hospital where he is currently awaiting scanning of his private parts, the target of the assault.  

Trouble started in the 88th minute when the referee flashed a second yellow card to striker Tobias Baraza of Sparki Youth.

As he was about to be given a red card, protesting fans invaded the pitch and one of them knocked the referee on his private parts.

Convert

The referee fell and was given first aid before being rushed to Al Farouk Hospital.

By the time of the abandonment, Admiral was leading 1-0. Admiral got a penalty two minutes after the hour mark after a defender handled the ball inside the box.

Liberian hit man Roosevelt  Blaty stepped up to convert the spot kick sending the goal keeper the wrong way to score his 24th goal of the season.

Decision

Admiral was reduced to ten men in the 73rd minute when Mohammed Khalid was given his marching orders for second bookable offence.

With the game abandoned and awaiting a decision from on its outcome from the Leagues and Competition’s Committee, Admiral therefore remain in position seven with 45 points  on the 19 team log as Sparki Youth are placed position twelve  on the log with33points from 29 matches.
