Chemelil and Muhoroni share spoils

Muho
Chemelil Sugar and Muhoroni Youth played to an entertaining barren draw in a rescheduled Tusker Premier League (TPL) encounter at the Chemelil Sports Complex on Monday 29 October.

Slippery conditions

The match was rescheduled to Monday after it was called off on Sunday 28 October due to heavy rainfall and the slippery conditions undermined both the pace of the game and the precision of the players with the home side the most wasteful in the encounter.

Muhoroni Youth should have secured an early lead, in the ninth minute but Collins Neto was caught unprepared by a great cross from the left by David Oriki. The ball drifted off for a throw in from which Chemelil Sugar launched an attack of their own by confidence eluded Dan Mutahi at the crucial moment and he shot straight at Joseck Gathongo.

Scare

Muhoroni survived yet another scare on 15 minutes when Victor Omondi's corner kick was cleared off the line by their captain Harry Gentle and from the clearance the visitors went on the attack though Sammy Wakhanya's shot went wide with the slipperiness much to blame.

Tony Opondo also had his chance on 36 minutes but struggled for balance due to the pitch condition and his shot on goal as a result was timid and the sides headed to the break level.

Omwenga miss

At the restart, Jared Omwenga should have edged the hosts ahead after a good first touch to wrong - foot the Muhoroni defence. He beat the visitors' defence for pace and did round the keeper but the final delivery badly let him down as his attempt to place the ball resulted in it going agonisingly wide.

The result takes Chemelil Sugar to 37 points, level with Western Stima who are eighth on the log while Muhoroni Youth went four points off the relegation region with 27 points.
