Interim Chelsea manager Rafael Benitez has been named the Barclays Premier League Manager of the Month for April.
The Blues had an impressive month,
getting 10 points from a possible 12 after beating Sunderland, Fulham and
Swansea and drawing with Liverpool.
Benitez becomes the first Chelsea
manager in more than two years to get the recognition after Carlo Ancelotti was
feted in April 2011.
The Spaniard has collected the
accolade six times now but this is his first since March 2009, when he claimed
the prize while manager of Liverpool.
Meanwhile, Manchester United forward
Robin van Persie was also named the Barclays Premier League Player of the Month
Van Persie scored six goals in
April, including a first-half hat-trick against Aston Villa, in the night that
the club collected its 20th top-flight title.
The Dutchman currently has 25 league goals, two ahead of Liverpool forward Luis Suarez, and looks certain to claim the Golden Boot for the second year running due to the Uruguayan's ban for biting Branislav Ivanovic.
