The change of the match officials for the Gor Mahia and Karuturi match set for Saturday afternoon has not gone down well with the visitors Karuturi Sport.
Speaking to futaa.com, one of the club officials vehemently expressed their reservations to the move saying it was raising eyebrows.
-Rules are there that if the appointed center referee cannot report due to certain circumstances, then the fourth official should automatically take the role but that did not happen.
Against Ichingwa’s appointment
-Mr. Ichingwa also performed below our expectations during our last match against Gor Mahia at the City Stadium so we are in fear that the same is bound to happen.
-There are so many referees who could have filled the gap or even the first assistant, lamented the official.
According to the club, memories of their recent FK Cup match against AFC Leopards in which they reportedly lost unfairly are also still fresh in their memories and they do not want the episode to repeat itself.
Isaac Ochieng was the centre referee supposed to officiate in the match but according to Football Kenya Federation (FKF) secretary general Mr. Lordvick Aduda, the official called in to inform of his unavailability and has since been replaced by Amos Ichingwa.
-This match is crucial for us as it is to Gor Mahia so those last minute changes are going to cause a lot of doubts ahead of the match, the official concluded.
