On Wednesday 3 October 2012, four games were played in Groups ‘A’ and ‘B’ in the UEFA Champions League 2012/13 round two games.
Third minute goal
Of the four, three host teams; Arsenal, Porto and Dynamo Kiev got home wins while German Bundesliga side Schalke 04 gave way a lead to end up with a home draw.
In Group ‘A’, a third minute goal by Oleg Gusev and a second, an own goal by Josip Pivaric handed Kiev a 2-0 win over visiting Dinamo Zagreb in a game played at the NSK Olimpiyskiy Stadium from 2145hrs local time.
Another tie in the same group played out at the do Dragao Stadium saw host Porto knock off visiting French Ligue 1 side Paris Saint Germain 1-0 with a goal through James Rodriguez on 83 minutes.
Fight for a 2-2 draw
From Group ‘B’, Arsenal, with goals from Gervinho, Lukas Podolski and Aaron Ramsey on 42, 56 and 90 minutes saw the Gunners pick a 3-1 win over Greek side Olympiakos who managed a eventual consolation goal on 45 minutes through Konstantinos Mitroglou.
Another game in the same Group ‘B saw French Ligue 1 side Montpellier fight for a 2-2 draw with Schalke 04 in a game played at the Veltins Arena.
Strike at the death
Montpellier scored first, and last, to get the draw. After 13 minutes, Karim Ait Fana sent the Ligue 1 side 0-1 up but the host rallied to tie the game with a Julian Draxler on 26 minutes before taking the lead on 53 minutes through Klaas Jan Huntelaar.
A Souleymane Camara strike at the death ensured the game ended all square.
