After the conclusion of the first leg in the 20-team Central
Provincial League on Sunday 5 August 2012, recess in the league is soon to
end as the second leg of the league kicks off on Sunday 19 August 2012.
Top the league
According to released draft fixtures, nine games have been lined up to jumpstart the second and final phase of the league.
At the close of the 19 games of the first leg, Nyeri Stima continues to top the league with 45 points. The team has a five point gap over Muranga United the team that lost the least times – once.
Kiambaa United is third with 36 points, a point better than Tetu Stars and Gathanga who are only separated on goal difference.
MKU Thika (31), Ruiru Sportiff (30), County Sportiff, Nanyuki Sportiff (both 29) and Jacaranda (28) take up positions six to ten in the standings.
Jumbo T. (26), Matenjagwo (24), Commercial (23), Kirinyanga United and Karuturi Sportiff both with 22 points fall in the third quartet in taking up positions 11 – 15 in that order.
With 18 points, S. Mukuva is 16th to lead the last quartet. Once a struggler, Limuru Olympics improved to end the first leg placed 17th with 15 points.
Kamunyu and Githurai and take up 18th and 19th spots respectively with 14 and 13 points respectively.
With only two wins and 14 losses to show, Nanyuki United are rock bottom of the standings with nine points. The team has scored the least goals in the league – 11.
