Reigning African champions Zambia and Cameroon are among the five countries that have expressed interest in participating in the forthcoming CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup to be held between November 24 and December 8 2012, in Uganda.

Apart from the duo, Ivory Coast, Malawi and Zimbabwe have also shown interest in taking part in the two-week event.

Waiting for confirmation

However, according to CECAFA Secretary General Nicholas Musonye, the final decision on whom to invite will be made by the regional body before the end of the week.

-Five teams including Cameroon, Zambia, Malawi, Ivory Coast and Zimbabwe have expressed interest, but they are on standby.

-We will make the decision this week after the Kampala meeting, said Musonye to futaa.com.

Malawi and Zimbabwe participated in last year’s edition clinched by Uganda in Tanzania while Zambia and Ivory Coast featured in the 2006/2009 and 2010 editions respectively.
