Cape Verde lost to host Cameroon 2-1 in a reverse second
round 2013 Africa Cup of Nations tie played on Sunday 14 October 201 but still
qualified for a Nations Cup for the first time ever, with a 3-2 aggregate win.
Win the tie outright
Cape Verde shocked the star studded indomitable lions with a 12th minute goal from Heldon Augusto Almeida Ramos of Portuguese side Maritimo, a goal that stretched their aggregate score to 3-0.
At that point, Cameroon
needed four goals to win the tie outright or at least three to tie the
aggregate and force the game to penalties.
A little too late
10 minutes after going down, Cameroon got an equalizer through Achille Emana. But the score remained 1-1 to the break and to the final minute of the game.
On added minutes, Cameroon managed one more to make the score 2-1 but it was a little too late as the game came to a wrap handing Cape Verde the ticket to the African Showpiece that kicks off on 9 January 2012 in South Africa.
During the first leg played on 8 September 2012, Cape Verde registered a most unexpected 2-0 win.
