Tunisian giants and defending champions Esparance Sportive de Tunis are back to the CAF Champions League finals after their Saturday 20th October triumph over Congo’s TP Mazembe in the second leg of the semifinal matches.
Esperance managed a 1-0 win over the Congolese side after a barren draw away in Kinshasa a fortnight ago that left the qualification window wide open.
Awaiting challengers
The home win was however enough to ensure that they are set to defend the title that they won last year when they floored Moroccan side Wydad Casablanca to lift the title.
The club will know their fellow finalists on Sunday 21st October when Egyptian side Al Ahly plays Nigerian side Sunshine in the second leg of their semifinals.
The two sides drew 3-3in the first leg in Nigerian hence the Egyptians will be under less pressure heading into the match.
The finals will also be two-legged with the first match on Friday 2nd November 2012 and the return leg on 9th November 2012.
