Al Ahly qualified for their ninth African Champions Club cup final, when they defeated Sunshine Stars of Nigeria 1-0 in the second leg of the semi final of the CAF Champions League in Cairo late on Sunday.
Ahmed Gedo had scored in the 28th minute goal to give Al Ahly a 1-0 lead at the break, and hand the North Africans a 4-3 aggregate lead.
Attendance
The game had kicked off in Cairo with no fans in attendance, as ordered by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
The first 15 minutes saw Al Ahly doing most of the playing, with Ayodele Henry in goal for Sunshine the busier of the two goal keepers.
Ahmed Gedo finally gave the North Africans the break they were looking for when he was sent through by Hossam Ghaly and he saw his angled shot deflected past Henry to give Ahly the lead.
Still, Al Ahly kept getting their set pieces right, knocking down free kicks for their lurking attackers with Sunshine defenders floundering, as they created another goal scoring chance on 40 minutes. Mercifully, Ahmed Barakat shot wide.
