After launching a successful appeal against Shiatsala Secondary School for fielding an ineligible player in the yesterday’s semi-final of the on-going Mumias Regional Secondary School Games, Butere Boys had a final laugh in Sunday’s morning replay beating Shiatsala 5-4 via post-match penalties after a 1-1 draw in the regular time.
Julius Obwamu scored the opener for Butere in the 13th
minute before gifting Shiatsala an own goal in the second half, leading the
match to the spot-kicks.
Mouth-watering final
Following the win, Butere will now meet their Pool A opponents Mumias Muslim Boys in a what is expected to be a thrilling final later in the day at Mumias Sports Complex.
In the preliminaries, the two sides shared the spoils after the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
Butere Girls are currently leading 2-0 against Rehema Academy in the girls’ final.
