Tanzania giants Simba SC became undisputed champions of the Tanzanian Premier League after
thrashing Moro United 3-0 in the Monday 23 April league match.
Beaten to the tape
Simba were relieved off pressure after Azam, who have been breathing down their necks, had their match abandoned in the dying minutes of the game due a disputed refereeing decision.
According to ippmedia, Mtibwa Sugar who were the opponents allegedly protested a penalty in the 88th minute with the referee blowing the final whistle moments later with the match at 1-1.
Molo relegated
The Simba's win also booked Moro United’s spot in the second tier league after sinking further into relegation zone.
The former champions are
now assured of recapturing the title they won two seasons ago. Defending
champions Yanga FC are a distant third with 46 points 13 behind Simba SC and five behind
Azam.
Azam and Yanga however have a match at hand but Simba are already clear of any danger at the peak with a single match to go this season.
