Bobby Ogolla: Influx of Ugandan players should not be a concern

John Bobby Ogola
More Kenyan Premier League (KPL) clubs are crossing the border to Uganda to search for players.

Nairobi City Stars is said to be in the process of completing the signing of Bruno Sserenkuma from Kampala City Council (KCC) who is believed to be replacing Dan Sebo Sserenkuma who has since joined Gor Mahia.

Sony Sugar Fc has already landed the services of Ugandan duo of Tony Sentongo and Tony Kulaba. Sentongo has joined from S.C Villa while Kulaba is a former Uganda Police player.

7th-placed Karuturi Sports has signed Zzinda Hussein from Utoda Fc while bottom-team Oserian is eyeing two Ugandans according to the Club’s Technical Director Gilbert Selebwa.

Worry not

Gor Mahia Assistant-coach Bobby Ogola says the influx of more foreigners into the KPL proves that the league has come of age.

-If they (Ugandan players) are delivering results then I don’t see anything wrong in their signing. It should not be a concern as this shows our league has grown.

Gor Mahia has two Ugandan players in their fold; Defender Ivan Anguyo and new signing Dan Sserenkuma.

KCC’s Eddie Mubiru has been training with the team and his signing will be completed soon according to head coach Zdravko Logarusic.

-We will sign him though I think he is not ripe enough to be in the first team. He is a good and has potential to develop into a great player.
