Black Stars thrash Congo

Ghana continued their fine form in Africa Nations cup qualifying with a resolute 3-0 hammering of Congo Brazzaville in a match played on Sunday 27th March 2011 in Brazzaville.

An early goal from Prince Tagoe, a Dominic Adiyiyah strike on the half hour and a late Sulley Muntari scorcher sealed the win for the sleek Ghanaians as they took firm control of qualifying group I.

The win took them to seven points, the same as second placed Sudan who beat Swaziland 3-0 in Khartoum, the same day.

Big stars missing

The Ghanaians trained in Kenya for a week in preparation for the game against Congo.

The Black Stars were without Star Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien who wasn’t available for the game due to apparent club commitments and Sunderland striker Asamoah Gyan who was suspended.

They were not missed though as they put the hapless Congolese to the sword in clinical fashion. The Ghanaians will look to improve on their points total when they host the Congolese on the fourth of June.

The Black Stars next face England at Wembley stadium on Tuesday 29th March in an International friendly match.
