The Black Stars secured a crucial 2-0 win over their tough counterparts Mali on Saturday evening to make it into the quarterfinal of the Nations Cup for the fourth time in their last six appearances.
The Ghanaian showcased their well-choreographed moves everytime they scored each of their two goals sending their fans to jubilation.
It was a rather unpredictable match though with both teams showing signs of brilliance at various points of the match. Mali should have been capitalized on the Ghanaian blunders in the first half.
Tough contest
Cheick Diabate's free-kick struck the Ghana woodwork twice to deny the Malians a lead into the first half break.
The second half was electrifying though as Ghana redeemed themselves through a superbly taken free kick by AL Ain striker and former Sunderland forward Asamoah Gyan.
Gyan was at it again moments later setting up Olympic Marseille midfielder Andre 'Dede' Ayew with a clever back pass.
Ayew then danced through three defenders to calmly slot a winner from the near post. That goal sent the Black Stars to the quarter finals of the biannual tournament.
