Veteran Sofapaka striker John Baraza is almost assured of finishing the first leg of the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) as the top scorer since his nearest competitor for the accolade, Kepha Aswani will not be featuring this weekend.
Out of action
Aswani’s team, Thika United takes on 13th placed City Stars at Hope Center and the Kenyan international, with ten goals to his name, has been left out of the travelling lot, with his coach John Kamau saying he decided to give him a rest.
-There is nothing unusual in his (Kepha) exclusion, I just felt he has played a lot this season and needs some rest, Kamau told futaa.com.
Two goal cushion
This effectively means, Baraza (with 12 goals), whose team is done with the first leg, will head into the second leg with the two goal cushion as his nearest challengers, a group of three players (Alan Otindo, Dan Sserunkuma and Francis Ouma) with five goals each, are unlikely to surpass him in the last round.
