Baraza still leads golden-boot race

Baraza

With four matches to go to the end of the 2012 Tusker Premier League, Sofapaka’s talisman John Baraza remains such an overwhelming favorite to claim this season’s golden boot accolade.

Baraza, a two-time golden boot winner (2009 and 2010), currently heads the TPL’s scorers chart with 17 goals, five more than second placed Dan Serenkuma of Gor Mahia.

Stiff competition

The Ugandan import is closely followed by his teammate Rama Salim, Evans Amuoka (Ulinzi Stars) and Kepha Aswani (Thika United) who have all struck 11 times this season.

KCB’s Paul Kiongera and Mathare United duo Andrew Tololwa and Jesse Were are tied at third with eight goals each.

Former golden boot winner Francis Ouma of Mathare, AFC Leopards striker Allan Wanga and his striking partner Mike Barasa have seven goals to their name.

Exciting matches

With the league getting back to action this weekend after an international break, more goals are expected as the race for the most prestigious individual awards gets hotter.

Last season, Ulinzi Stars forward Stephen Waruru emerged the best scorer in the league with 12 goals to his name.
